The St. Cloud office of the Small Business Development Center is an oasis for Small Business Owners or prospective business owners in Central Minnesota.

The SBDC offers many services to business owners, including start-up assistance, business plan development, feasibility analysis, general marketing, research and financing assessments.

The SBDC offices, located in the Anderson Entrepreneurial Center, are under the direction of Barry Kirchoff, and the administration of St. Cloud State University.

In the past year, the SBDC consultants have worked with 300 clients, mainly on business planning and finance issues. They are still seeing a strong interest in the number of people seeking assistance in starting new businesses.

Discussion Leadership Forum (June 16-18)
Dr. David Garvin, Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School, will present a two-day forum on case study methodology. Dr. Garvin, is the author of The Case Method in Professional Education. AEC programs use case study methodology whenever feasible. By analyzing real-world business cases, participants can better react to changes in their own business.

Governance Forum (in April 08)
Are you leading an organization that's planning to create a Board of Directors? Are you chairing or serving on the Board of a private business or nonprofit? The Governance Forum can help you build a stronger board and establish a framework for effective board decision-making and leadership. This forum will include four half-day sessions in April and May.

Owner-President Forum (beg. April 08)
"The true value of the Owner-President Forum is to answer the call of executives for continuing education, to expand their own skill-sets, and to create broader perspectives.... Additionally, at the end of the program, through the forming of relationships with other executives at other companies you've built a consulting group that speaks the same language and can offer advice as we try to move our companies forward."

— John Mattke, President, Cold Spring Granite
